Sarcoma Foundation of America Fundraiser

Posted on October 11, 2013 by Emma

On Monday 14th October we will be holding a Sarcoma Foundation of America Fundraiser.

Join us at our Freret St location from 1.30pm - 7.30pm to help raise money for this extremely worthy cause. What is sarcoma you ask? Well check out their website by clicking here.

Between 1.30pm - 7.30pm 10% of our sales will go to the Sarcoma Foundation of America so make sure you head down to eat as many dogs and drink as many ice cold brewski’s as you can because it really will make a difference! The Sarcoma Foundation of America will also be joining us on the day to offer information. Also joining us will be local favourites Plum St Snoballs who will be donating 30% of their sales to the foundation.

We’re pretty excited about our special of the day which will be the ”Billyboy Lousiana Hot Sausage”. A grilled hot sausage served with diced onions, andouille sauce, cheddar cheese, mustard and ketchup! This dog was designed by local Billy Coombs, a Tulane student born in 1993 and majoring in English and Economics who last year was diagnosed with sarcoma himself.

Come down and show your support for Billy, his family and the Sarcoma Foundation of America. We hope to see you there.

A letter from Skip…

Posted on October 4, 2013 by Emma

Dear Friends,
Last Thursday, September 26th, I had the honor of addressing members of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity from the Tulane School of Business. From a humble hotdog/wiener stand in London, to New Orleans, to speaking to a group of young University students seems unreal.
My little address was really about small business. It was about how to meet the challenges of what seems to be an uphill climb with no real hope that a small business can survive and thrive in today’s world. It can and it does. Dat Dog is a labour of love. God knows it was never designed to be even what it is today. Who knew? Certainly not me. I mentioned the “gift of despair”. You can never minimize how motivated one can be when there are no other choices. You learn a lot about yourself that even my time at Loyola University couldn’t prepare me for.
To those students who gave me their time to listen to whatever it is I had to say and to those people who are our friends and customers at Dat Dog, I wish to thank you. For those who haven’t yet found us, I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Skip Murray
Founder of Dat Dog
New Orleans, La.
