Easter Specials

Posted on April 17, 2014 by

Hi Dat Dog fans! Hope ya’ll are getting as excited about the Easter weekend as we are!

Make sure to stop by to try our delicious specials at some point over the weekend.

sea dog and fresh 75

The sea dog and the Fresh 75. The sea dog is without doubt one of our most popular dogs; a  crispy coated beer-battered cod dog with fresh diced onions, tomatoes, house tartar sauce and mustard. Team this with the Fresh 75, a Dat Dog spin on the classic – fresh squeezed lemons, lightly sweet agave nectar, Seagrams Gin, topped with sparkling wine.

Happy Easter!

The doors have opened on Frenchmen St!

Dat Dog on Frenchmen now open

April 2, 2014 New Orleans, LA - Dat Dog has opened its third New Orleans location at 601 Frenchmen Street, corner Chartres, in the popular Marigny neighborhood. The beloved New Orleans restaurant will serve its signature sausages, wieners, fries and toppings at lunch and dinner.

Dat Dog’s Frenchmen Street location incorporates the same menu, happy color scheme and whimsical environment as the Freret and Magazine stores, but also includes table service and a large wrap around balcony off an upstairs dining room and bar. Erected on a vacant lot,  Dat Dog on Frenchmen is entirely new construction intentionally built to fit in and resemble the historic vibe of the fabled street.

“We are thrilled to join the thriving music, food and culture scene of Frenchmen Street,” said Dat Dog’s founder and operator Constantine Georges. “As locals, we know and appreciate the funky aspect of Frenchmen and the importance of the street to both visitors and locals. Dat Dog looks forward to being a good neighbor and great restaurant addition to the block,” he said.

In homage to the street’s history, Georges commissioned local artists Monica and Madeleine Kelly to paint a floor to ceiling mural of what used to take place on the empty lot now home to Dat Dog. In the art work, hula hoopers, buskers and other personalities are depicted performing on the corner of Chartres and Frenchmen. An illuminated  ”Cafe Brasil” sign graces the background, a salute to the long-defunct and popular music club that once operated across the street from Dat Dog.

Georges also commissioned art above each of the Dat Dog bars. Downstairs above the main bar, artist Ashlee Arceneaux recreates the “Embrace Your Bliss” smiling pig artwork seen at both the Freret and Magazine locations. Upstairs, under soaring ceilings and above the long bar, artist Sarah Nelson interprets the unique and lovely view of Frenchmen Street rooftops.

Dat Dog Frenchmen Street opens at 11 a.m. every day for lunch and dinner. 504.309.3362.

Dat Dog was named first by USA Today in a round up of Top 10 Great Places for Hot Dogs, and routinely tops local and national “Best Of” lists. Serving imported and local hot dogs, sausages and wieners on signature, grilled buns with custom toppings, Dat Dog became an instant favorite among New Orleanians, food critics and tourists. Dog-friendly and with beer garden type outdoor environments, Dat Dog is adored by food lovers of all ages. www.datdognola.com
